In 1956, Osborne, a Spanish distiller began erecting giant bulls near main roads, to advertise their brandy. In 1994, the EU banned all roadside alcohol advertising and the bulls were blacked out but still remain today, silhouetted against the horizon across Spain. I used this recognisable cultural icon as the basis for an awareness campaign for Decasa, a popular Spanish Lifestyle TV channel, by painting one of these iconic black bulls bright green, Decasa’s own brand colour. The idea was based around their tagline: ‘Poniendo color a tu vida’, roughly translated as, ‘putting some colour back into everyone’s life’.
