Commissioned as a 6Oth birthday gift, the portrait is a companion piece to a portrait I’d produced for Jo’s partner, John, for his 6Oth Birthday. The studio setting is intentional as Jo spent her whole career working for the BBC and it’s the same setting as her partner’s portrait, creating a visual association between both compositions. The image is a composite of hundreds of separate photographic assets, each element representing Jo’s persona.
